Squier VS Fender (MIM) - lets talk about necks

just wondering, specifically about the fender and squier necks.
does anyone know if the squier necks are as good as the fender MIM necks? i mean do they have the same type of sturdy truss rod?
i own a fender MIM and the neck is pretty stable, wondering if i can expect the same with a squier jazz bass....

Haven't had any troubles with any of my Squiers - even the Affinity that is a front line singer.

I think it's a lot of to-do about the name and that it isn't a MIA that gives some snobby people the idea that they can rag on anything that isn't made in Uh-mer-i-ka.

Frankly - with the great extremes in the weather I have to live and play in - from single digit humidity with 100ºF+ degrees to damp-at-the-beach-salt-air and a low 60ºF for temps, I've never had even EVER a seasonal adjustment to make on anything.

Maybe I'm just fortunate and I only bought basses with very perfect necks that never needed anything other than the original setup and they are good to go anywhere - I dunnow.

My MIM Deluxe J is rock solid as I expected it to be, and of course, the SR500 is always the same even if I were to play it under water, I bet.

ALL my Squiers (VM-Jazz ~ VM-Jaguar ~ Affinity P ~ and even the ones I built with GFS necks) are solid too.

Gig bags however are OUT and if it doesn't have a hard case for travel, well --- it doesn't go anywhere until it DOES have its own dedicated case. I think many, if not most - neck problems are on basses that travel in [DEL]cloth[/DEL] [DEL]canvas[/DEL] burlap [DEL]bags[/DEL] sacks.

if that's your rule about having a HSC for each bass that's cool, but IME, keeping /transporting basses in a gig bag vs a hardcase, or even hanging them on the wall has nothing with neck issues or stability. if you make sure that it's a straight one in the first place, only having to make minor adjustments early in its life to keep it that way, and using the same gauge of strings on it, it'll stay that way.

Personally, I like the neck on my Squier VM better than almost any MIM neck I've ever played, with the exception of the Classic series.

The Fender Standards, which are made in Mexico, have a solid stable neck too, but many I've picked up have higher action or just aren't as comfortable to play.

If you're worried about the Squier necks stacking up to MIM quality, it doesn't seem to be an issue IMO, at least not with newer Squier instruments.

Stability I think your good to go as long as is was good to start with and you don't do anything crazy.

I have an 80s Squier Jazz neck that is still in great shape. I also just picked up a recent MIM and have it setup with very low action.

I swapped the neck on my 2000 MIM deluxe jazz for a Squier VM maple neck and it's a great neck, I can get the action as low as the previous MIM neck and although I did a tiny bit of fret dressing myself the neck is as good as the MIM easily and doesn't have an annoying gloss finish on the back

I just bought a Squier Classic Vibe jazz bass body and neck on FeeBay. I had tuners, bridge, PUP's, control plate, pickguard at home so I could build it as soon as the body and neck arrived.

Well, I got them. In an hour, I built the entire bass. I saw that it is made in China, and I've both good and bad things about guitars made in China.

Let me tell you, the Squier Classic Vibe is one of the NICEST basses I've played. The neck feels EXACTLY like a 1980's E series neck from a made in Japan Fender. It is absolutely perfect.

In my opinion, the Squier Classic Vibe not only feels exactly like an E series, but it sounds EXACTLY like an E series, too.

So, I would take a Squier Classic Vibe over a MIM any day..

Most of the complaints I've seen are about the Affinitys, haven't had a single with the neck on my VM P, I set it up when I got it in march & haven't need to touch the truss rod again. To me the VM & CV line easily equal the quality of the MIM fenders.
