I have a squire Vintage Modified 77 jazz bass body. Someone is selling a Classic vibe Jazz bass neck. I have tried to fit other jazz necks onto the body and they didn't quite fit.

Does anyone know if this will be a match?

Has anyone done this themselves?

When you say "other Jazz necks", which brands and models? For example, if one was from the discontinued Squier Standard line, that would explain a lot, as there are a whole host of compatibility issues between them and…well, just about anything else. :banghead:

I'm gonna take an educated guess and say it will most likely fit just fine. But, if it were my time and money, I'd definitely take the body and a screwdriver that you know will match up with them.

Also, a tip I learned from my local guitar tech earlier this year; When mating a body to the neck, affix the strings too, but not too tightly…just enough to pull the neck more firmly into the pocket. Sometimes that little bit o' tension will help the screw holes line up, with the added bonus of straightening the angle of the neck while it's in the pocket. It certainly helped me out. In fact, it kept me from filling the original holes in the neck and drilling out new ones.
