Squire James Johnson Jazz Bass

I believe it's only a Euro model and not available in the US ---- yet.

I saw it on a Brit site and investigated and it is really a CV for sure. Don't forget the €-to-$US conversion, so that may skew the price too.

And tariffs.

And shipping.

And it's dark in Europe - [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] - and they may not be able to see the price tags.

I have never heard of this guy but it's a nice looking bass. I am not sure what the differences are between a Classic Vibe and this are.

I do love LPB!!

You've never heard of James Jamerson? He is only one of the most famous bass players of all time. Listen to some of the old Motown stuff like the Supremes, Smokey Robinson, etc and pay attention to the bass lines. You will be amazed.

James Jamerson - Motown, 1960's, USA
James Johnson - Biffy Clyro, Now, Scotland

Both are great IMO, and anyone wanting to check out Biffy should get "Only Revolutions" or "Puzzle" to start with. They've got a really good alt-rock, Foo Fighters + Prog sound.

Resurrecting this necro-thread:

Has anyone done an A/B comparision between the Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass and the James Johnson Signature Jazz Bass?

Looking at the Fender web site, the specs look the same, and it looks like the price premium for the James Johnson sig model is now gone -- MSRP for both basses is listed as US $579.

The street price for each looks like $379 now.

So is this bass just the 60s Classic Vibe in Lake Placid Blue? Identical parts, etc. and just a different paint job?

The Best Artist model by squire in the looks catagory in my opinion, has anyone had chance to buy or play one of these over here, since apparently it's only available here as of yet. Lake Placid Blue, with a mint green Pick guard, what's not to like

I have this bass and the strings have started sounding super stale, can anyone advise me on what strings I need to replace them?
