SRX 728s amp choosing

Alright so I have a JBL SRX 728s sub (dual 18") its has 1600/3200/6400,continuous/program/peak. I was just wondering what kind of amp to get. I was looking at a crown xls 5000 and crown xti 6002 or is there a better option. Any answers help.

You can get a used itech 8000 for about the price of a new xti6002. However I don't know if there's really anything to be gained by that, and the repair charges on 8000s are a flat $500.

If weight is not an issue you might want to check out the Crest CA-18 which is a pretty massive high fidelity amp Invalid Link Removed ...of course if weight IS an issue and money isn't I'd say check out the Powersoft K series Invalid Link Removed

Get yourself a nice lightweight amplifier. Get a couple of them. Amplifier power is cheap these day.

"Subs" do not require high fidelity, even so all power amps are sonically identical, As long as you match gain.
Read the specs, see the tests, any differences are far below any human hearing. Especially if it's for subs.

Big and heavy has no relation to how well the amplifier performs.

Crown and JBL are both Harman. The make good solid reliable pro gear. Their lower priced amps are also pro. It could be a long discussion about the differences but it's not sonic properties you pay more for.

I've actually heard that behringers EP series is good. Actually one of the only good series they make because most f their stuff is crap. I already own an ep 2500 for the monitors I got,it sounds good, but what would you guys think of bridging an EP 4000 on that SRX 728s
