Stacking combos sideways

Many combos, like Ampegs, have the control panel on the top of the amp.

Suppose you wanted to stack a pair that were daisy chained.

At least one (the one on the bottom) would have to be on its side so you can plug into the input.

Is this a bad idea since heavy stuff like x-formers will be fastened in sheer, and the weight might buckle the chassis and cause other damage?

Boy is that a good question! Can you maybe use a right angle plug for the combo on bottom?

as long as your not stacking combos with different sized drivers you're ok

Ok, I'm kidding...

I would worry less about components and more about heat dissipation. Most amps are designed to dissipate heat while in their "normal" position. If you turn it another way it might not cool as well, possibly causing an issue.

Another option would be to stack them upright, but with something like a short table with 6" legs between them. Just thought of that, and it might be a safer way to go; everything's normal, and they'll vent as designed.

Good idea, or you can get taller feet. Table's less invasive, I spose.

I hadn't thought of that. At least with my MarkBass combo, I can pop the top (well, side in this case) access panel off the top to give some additional air flow. And its got a fan which should help.
