Stacking TL606s: Staggered or Aligned?

Another TL606 question:

What is the "sonically superior" way to stack these cabs? Vents staggered or vents aligned? (see attachment)

I've heard it both ways... that one way or the other will optimize bass response.

My *GUESS* is that stacking them ALIGNED will optimize bass response, but does stacking them staggered have any detrimental effect? Do they cancel each other out?

i know that the drivers should be aligned for the best off axis dispersion....whether this is a problem from the vents,i can't say,but if i was to wager i'd say aligned would be best

It looks cooler with the vents lined up :)

However, if you need to get the speakers up closer to your ears, stacking them vertically would not be the end of the earth (E.g. with the vents down on both cabs).

could you do me a favor and tell me the measurements of your cabs as well as the size of the vent

If standing on their wheels, vent at the bottom, (which they are NOT in this picture), they measure 23.75" H, 19.25" W, 17" D.

My second set (not pictured) are actual EV cabs (or someone did a fine job building them and slapped an EVM logo on them), and they are about 3/4 of an inch bigger all the way around.

Vent on mine measures 16.25" x 2"

thanx a bunch....i have some locally built cabs of that style but they are 24"wide od....and there is a diagonal ply behind the driver starting in about 2" from the top of the vent and ending around mid magnet...
