Standing on a bassdrum

Don't stand on it. Shove the bass neck through it and then kick it over!

Especially if you have a bass with a pointy headstock. Bayonet charge!

There have been many voices of reason on here advising you (the OP) not to do this stunt. But if you insist...

- Wear rubber soled shoes (something that will grip, but won't scratch the paint)

- Make sure that where you're going to be standing is clean and dry before you mount

- Make sure there's enough headroom with the ceiling of the venue so you don't make it to the top of the drum only to brain yourself on a beam or something

- Keep your time up there as short as possible, and don't jump or bounce... you will be putting enough stress and strain on the bass drum the way it is

- Take video of the successful stunt (or not), and post it here as a follow-up!

the drummer from rancid has a kick drum with like 7 extra plys because when tim would run around he would sometimes stand on it. well there were many times where he just crunched the bass drum. But with the extra ply one he hasnt fallen through it yet.

I did this before ran across the stage and leapt onto the bass drum. I managed to keep my balance by grabbing a crash cymbol as the drummers stick came down. It wasn't fun and wouldn't recommend it, the sight of the Hi-hat rod as I was wobbling freaked me out big time.
