Standing on a bassdrum

Hey guys,

My drummer wants me to stand on his bassdrum for the outro of our last song on our gig next week.
Any tips on how to stand on it because I would rather not fall of his bassdrum nor damage it even thou it's his idea and responsibility...

i used to do that with my band. i also did a whole 2 songs whilst getting carryed by some of my friends

the drum will be ok but watch out because the vibrations sometimes throw you off

OK, I'll bite.
Don't do it.
Only bad things can happen:
You fall and get hurt, or hurt the drummer.
All sorts of gear breakage is very likely.

If you fall, try to avoid getting speared by the cymbal stands, especially the hi-hat... ouch!

I'm going to warn him that if there is anything wrong with his drums it was his idea so i'm not going to pay anything

tell him sure, but first use the headstock of your bass as a throne

No offense, but your drummer is a fool.

You'll hurt yourself (and/or the drummer), damage the drum (and/or your bass)... possibly all of the above. Plus it's just a really bush-league stunt that says "we're trying way too hard". I see very little chance of it having any positive impact on your presentation and a very high likelihood of it being a Fail a YouTube / FailBlog-worthy scale.

Like Mr. Perry said (Joe, not Steve)... let the music do the talking. Keep both your feet on the ground and it will go better for everyone.

Plus, a bunch of years from now when you have a kid in a band, this would be evidence that you do indeed know what you're talking about when you tell him (or her) that standing on the drummer's equipment is a bad idea. Once a kid reaches that age, they think you know nothing. It's a condition that lasts until they have children of their own.

Our lead singer does it, but he's only up there for a few seconds at a time. It's enough to get the crowd cheering. Also, our drummer plays one of the thickest rims you can buy.

we (singer especially) jump off everything we can find in my band including the bass drum, go for it and ignore the naysayers.. they're probably boring to watch anyway.
