I like that article. When I was studying with Rick Kilburn he told me I needed to get a stool. When I said I preferred standing he told me there was no way I could practice the 6-8hrs a day I needed to standing the whole time. I got a stool that week....Rick scared the crap outta me. Like you Chris I ended up preferring to sit and have done for many years with both the double bass and bass guitar.
Something else to consider are some Alexander Technique lessons. I've recently gotten back to AT after having had a few lessons six or seven years ago. The detailed body awareness it teaches is doing me all sorts of good for the arm pain I've been experiencing lately.
