Yeah, the bass was inspired by Roscoe but is not a copy. Quite a few things were changedRoscoe inspired, certainly; but calling it a clone of an SKB seems a bit far fetched. Neither horn looks like an SKB. If anything, the top horn is more LG than SKB, but it's not as extreme in it's offset as an LG. Also, the body size is much larger, like a Century, but looks nothing like a Century. But I definitely get a Roscoe vibe, and I dig it.
@spuogis I checked out the luthier’s IG, and I gotta say he is definitely one talented cat. Some beautiful work, indeed! Enjoy that bass...and post more vids

IF you want a ramp, it normally takes up the space between the pickups. Standard placement. I'm building one for my warwick right now. Not much you can do other than choose a different wood.

Are those nordstrands on the bass? There are so many pickups these days that I can't tell anymore by looking.

I made my Tele with three big singles.
Then I swapped the neck with a big split instead. Made a world of difference. Like, everything that was missing, with no compromise. But, I swapped it for a big blade recently. Blade wins hands down.
And, now it's green
Those are the pickups to get, these days!
I do agree that his tone in the recording is too backgroundy for me. But that's just taste. That bass can no doubt drive the presence in your face if set that way.
When I mixed the bass I wanted to make it more "clanky" and more modern metal sound. Ernest preferred a more mellow sound, I guess because of his background in jazz music. As you said it's a matter of taste

Not quite as cool as yours though man.
But, point: you should experiment with the other pickups carey has to offer in that size. Different sets and combos could take the whole thing to new levels. And, you never know til you try.
I kinda feel like that particular bass, like the way I felt about mine when I had the body cut, deserves a special uniqueness. Instead of just being a great jazz bass.

It's such a personal thing. Not a criticism... you are both absolutely fantastic players and the music is good and the result sounds amazing... absolutely professional and releasable. I'm duly impressed!
Oh... and the video overdubbing was very well done - I always have trouble doing that in videos... doing a close up of my playing afterwards, which of course means I have to know exactly what I played note for note, in my own music I do tend to improvise in fills etc... which makes that extra mentally exhausting LoL... videos are so much effort to do well. And this one is VERY well produced and performed.
