Starting a Clone Bassic15 Build

AFAIK the box is way too small for the 3015.

This is true. Not optimal. However, necessary for small clubs (restaurants). And I built it to fit with my bass into a Mini Cooper. The cabinet size is almost identical to a Polytone, which also uses a 15" driver. Which is why I call the little amp my "Polyclone".

For my double bass, it is usually more than enough sound. Until it isn't.

Which is why I am building a second cabinet, the Bassic15, which should perform much better when I am willing to lug it around :)

I don't know anything about acoustics, but those wooden slats are very classy looking, they remind me of my Victrola phonograph.

And the idea of rotating them open or closed reminds me of the air conditioner vents in my truck. Or the radiator grill vanes on old prewar roadsters which were controlled by a thermocouple that opened them up as the engine got warmer. I imagine they would have a sort of filtering effect on the sound to some degree, similar to the doors on the front of my Victrola.

I'm just rambling here. That looks like nice work.

The KappaLite driver is NOTHING like the Polytone driver.

Your AI results are really absurd. You just don’t know it yet.

Yes that is true
Omni Calculator gives terrible results
SpeakerBox, calculator edge, and WinISD give results which are in close agreement to each other
At least in my particular calculation
WinISD is also error-prone or at least anomaly-prone.

Update: Woodworking is pretty much complete. Just added the maple 3/4" screen mold on the front to cover the plies on the perimeter. Waiting on handles and other hardware. I've decided to first use it as just a cabinet for the summer, auditioning several class D heads, and after choosing one I'll modify the cabinet to include the amp as a combo.

The face frame is a nice touch. I see a triangular strip along the inside bottom and up the read left side. Nothing at the bottom front to back. Is that to come? Will there be ones behind the baffle to help secure it?

Good eye! Yes, I will add the front to back strips. They already exist on all four seams behind the baffle. I probably don't need this but I am also going to run a dowel from just below the speaker hole to the back of the box for extra rigidity.

Marshall ran a front to back brace in their 412, it was a piece of 2x4 lumber. It’s easy to overbuild these things. :roflmao:
