Starting bass a 4th time

Hello everyone. Im starting to play bass for a 4th time, ive dabbled in a lot of other instruments but one thing is for sure, i dont like em with more than 4 strings (Even 5 string basses feel wrong to me).

I have a korean dean edge i aquired in 2005 or so, thats played in garage jams, bars, and later in churches. Its church that brought be back again, but my old dean was looking a little worse for wear. I went to my local store and tried almost every bass they have and nothing gave me the tingles enough i guess. I decided to fix and slightly upgrade my old dean and some googles brought me here.

What a wealth of information, thank you all already for the advice ive recieved.

Welcome to the monkey house, and howdy from Texas.
Thanks, noticing your user name id like to say that until last week ive only played blues on my mouth harps, but decided to start tinkering with some 12bar backing tracks on the bass and im loving it. First time playing bass blues but what a great way to refamiliarize the fretboard and i learned about the "blues box" which is a brilliant cheat code.

My new strings are half rounds and sounding great for blues on the front pickup with 0 bridge and a smidge of tone.
