starting out...

I've been playing for a month or so now...and I'm taking lessons once a week and just to try to get me going I'm learning how to read bass clef and what not...any suggestions on what I can do to get going other than looking up tabs and jamming around with my friends?

I would say an important thing to get down as soon as you can would just be to establish good technique.

your teacher should no doubt be helping you with this, but my best advice would be to practice hand exercises with proper technique till your hand falls off. the sooner your hands get comfortable the smoother things will be.

there are some great sticky threads in the technique forum that have some great exercises to practice

good luck :D
