I’m a pay it forward kind of person, so I don’t mind helping where I can.

Once upon a time I helped out a lot, then I kept getting snubbed by the recipient or some joker would come in & throw their monkey wrench in on the 2nd page of a long discussion.
My own fault sometimes, though.
Like going into a long detailed post describing all the components & even going so far as to tell the intended where to buy (being familiar with their place of residence), and ...
they just take it to the local tech on Monday & get the "I don't know what he did , but it works now!" special.

If the folks dig around they can find the information, it's in there...

On the plus side, a fresh crop of bassists seem to be joining us here on the best bass guitar forum on the planet. The down side is that all the same arguments, questions and thought starters are coming back up. Why Fender? P or J? Pick or Fingers? Maple or Rosewood? Ampeg or Boutique?
Just a comment more than anything else. Everything old is new again (except me!)

Thats just the reality of it though. There are only so many topics about bass guitars so its nice to revisit things for newer members. People shouldnt be relegated to the archives when the whole point of this site is conversation.

The whole "use the search" line no longer holds water because of the repeats and the lack of closure so many threads bring these days. Looking for info here can be like trying to find a needle in a stack of needles sometimes.
