Static crackling from pickguard

I have a Jazz bass that cracles when I brush my fingers over the pickguard. I have tried to shield and ground the pickguard I have tried fabric softener sheets under the pick guard and I have tried Armorall. No real success.
Is there a solution for this problem?
I have some J basses that do it too and others that don't.

I fixed that by rubbing the dryer sheet on the guard, but not leaving the sheet on there.
Did you take the guard off completely and wipe it down? Because that worked for me, just saying...

I traced the pickguard and put a layer of the sheet between the pickguard and the body.
Didn't work neither did aluminum foil
