I've been playing the same awesome bass for about 6 years now. The Ibanez SR505 and I still love it as much as I did the first time I played it. I was wondering, does anyone get a feeling of "if you like the SR505, you're really gonna love ..." ? I am, as it were, open for suggestions^^

Well, if you like the 505, you'll like the 705. That's all I can comment on because I haven't owned an SR above a 705, and that was after a 305, 405, and a 535 because I was new to bass and still trying to figure out what I like. I decided I don't like narrow string spacing on a five string.
There's a guy- Wallace420 (?) who will chime in as he knows a lot about Ibanezes. If he doesn't, try changing the post title to include "Ibanez".

Thanks!^^ I checked out the 705, compared it to the 505 and it seems slightly better.. Hopefully Wallace420 can shed some light upon the matter, I changed the title as you said 
Oops. Now that I think about it, I think his moniker is actually Wallace 320. Not 420. I guess my mind was elsewhere.
Make sure you try a fiver with more traditional string spacing (if you haven't yet) before you get another SR. It may not be to your liking, but it doesn't hurt to try. I did, and it turned me away from everything with sub-18 mm spacing.
And try a BTB like they ^ said. That's what I'd go with anyway.

If you like Sr500 you'll love Sr Prestige. If you love Sr Prestige but it's too pricey you would like Sr Premium.
Haha, yes the SR Prestige is about 2000 bucks, the SR 505 about 1/4 of that
So it's a bit too much for him I guess. The SR Premium is good with a price around 1000 bucks If that's also out of his budget, he should look for a SR 705 or used SR 405 on Ebay

Interesting. I didn't see where the OP listed a price range. For all we know, he won Powerball.
I advise against anything below a 505. Anything below that is a beginner bass. The two 405s I had were absolute junk but the 535 was decent. At best. If I ever buy another Ibby SR, it won't be below the 700 series.
I love my SR1205e (see avatar). Great bass and a nice step up from the 505, which is also a solid bass.
If you love your 505, I don't see why you should change. Hopefully you just want to add to your collection. I sold my 505 and would like another one as a backup to my 1205.

And up yours Mr_Music90 When I bought the 505 I was a student with no job so at that time, it was impressively expensive

Oh my God... YES. THIS.
You've got an instrument you love, sir... hang on to it!!! The amount of money I've blown trying to find an instrument that I was head over heels about is bloody ABSURD... and still, nothing will ever be as good to me as my first, cheap, second-hand, MIM Fender Precision that I once had to sell to make rent.
Keep the Ibby... there are many like it, but that one is YOURS.
I had a SR905. Got it used for around $400. Neck thru and played great. I'm just more of a Fender type tone guy I guess.
Hate to agree, but I do! Talkbass is the most G.A.S. inducing site in our solar system, and maybe the entire galaxy.
Hang around here too long and you'll be buying all sort of things you never knew you needed!
Sorry, but you're wrong. Any SR above GIO is a good instrument for the money (and even the 20X models are very decent). And the 70X is the current top of the SR line (except for US where you can also get the 75X & 80X models). Anything above that is either a Premium or a Prestige, and that's a totally different level.
@OP: sorry to burst your bubble, but the only bass that would feel the same as your current bass (and prolly sound fairly close - depending on the model) is another SR. There's no other instrument that comes close to it. Of course there are tons of awesome sounding basses and maybe some do feel great, but nothing like an Ibby SR. Even the other Ibbys are completely different animals (like the BTBs & ATKs).
