Double Bass Staying sharp in free time...

So I have now embarked on the 2 week trip back from Southern Mexico to the Northern Us (its not actually 2 weeks but with a slow family it is) and I was wondering if anyone knows any good ways to keep some of your technique sharp while not being able to play on an actual bass? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you're working on something in particular, not being near a bass may be a good time to analyze your fingering and bowing choices. A lot of times we just choose the most intuitive of these and later find there are much better choices out there that may have come to us if we had approached the music away from our bass.

Make some copies if you're practicing off of originals or an excerpt/zimmerman book so your nice original music doesn't get trampled on in your sleep and stuff.

Also, take some good recordings with you and just enjoy the trip with some good music. I think a lot of times we become obsessed with practicing and forget to appreciate the music that we're slaving over.
