Steelers or Packers? Help a Brit decide...

Packers here... they've been my team on Madden for years. Since the days of Farve tossing to Sterling Sharpe in a Hail Mary from the 5 and running it all the way in. Can't say I've ever played as the Steelers and liked it...

Steeler fan here. I grew up about 65 miles from Pittsburgh, and was always a Steelers/Pirates fan. But since I'm older than most of the folks here, I remember some of the horrible years for the Steelers before they got it all together in the '70s.

During those never-a-winning season years in the late '50s and '60s, my other favorite team was the Packers. They were always a good bet to have a great team. Bart Starr, Jim Taylor, Paul Hornung, etc. were some of the players I emulated playing ball on the playgrounds every day. But for as much as I like the Packers most days, today I'll be pulling for the Steelers.

Virtually none of the experts on the sports shows are picking the Steelers, so I'm hoping they'll embrace that underdog role and play some inspired ball...

As much as I respect the Packers and think they have a really good team, I am and always will pick my team, the Steelers, to win every time. I went to Steelers training camp this year and took my brother, who is a die hard Steelers fan with a Steelers room in his house. At training camp, I picked the Steelers to make it to the Super Bowl. I can't say that every year but somehow had a feeling about it.

Here we go Steelers!

Well, forgive my ignorance before starting this thread, but if one of the teams is playing in black and gold then my question has been answered, regardless of this poll. The greatest club in the world play football in those very same colours.

Go Steelers! Come on ye Wolves!

Both teams are well coached by coaches who know and respect the game. Both teams have some players who are considered the best or top five in their positions. Both teams have players who have been on the roster for years. Neither team "bought" their current roster by signing a bunch of high priced free agents to help them win. The cities each team are from are smaller towns full of hard working people who love and follow their USA football team like no other in professional sports in the USA.

Green Bay has set the standard for winning professional American football championships, although they have not won one in 15 years. Pittsburgh is trying to catch up, having won a couple in the last six years.

I don't know how you are with your favorite team, but sometimes when my team loses, I have no trouble with the team they lost to. If the Steelers lose to Green Bay today, I'll be disappointed by not too much.

If you are interested in the off the field activities of the players, then Green Bay is your choice today. The Steelers had an off the field issue with their QB this season that has caused many people to hope they lose today.

No matter who you rest your hopes on, you are going to get some excellent football between the white lines today.

Great reply to a genuine question - another reason for me to go with Pittsburgh. ;)
