Quite possibly the coolest pose with a Steinberger. Tina Weymouth, 1980.

I may have mentioned this in this thread before, but there was an article in the old Musician's Magazine circa 1980 about Steinbergers that featured highly stylized artsy photos of all the artists who were using them. Hardly anyone was posed just holding the bass, everyone was doing something dramatic or offbeat like ^^^that Weymouth pic. Wonder if they were all shot by the same photographer?

I soldered in an HBCS that was intended for plug connections. Easy. But that was an XP. I don't know if it's as easy to do with the other models.

If the new HB cannot be installed due to space problems, I could sell you my HB removed from the XP. This is an original from '85, not an IV-V HB. This pickup only works on a four-string Steinberger. Technically absolutely fine, never had a problem with the pickup.

I love my XP, I just played it live again a week ago. Big eyes in the audience, curious questions and everyone praised the sound to the skies.
I think Steinberger users should support each other. These are truly unique instruments.

Flight cases? Any recommendations for an XL or other makes?

The flight case for my XL2 is a Roadie. My XL is an '88 which I bought used in about '92 or '93. It came with the flight case, so I'm sorry, but I don't have any other info about it, but with search engines these days, it's probably not too hard to find out something. It's a very sturdy formica-covered case that the bass fits into nicely. The hinges and latches are heavy duty.

I did some searching around in the past and even talked to a HeadlessUSA rep last summer with no recommendations- I’m guessing that it would require a custom build by any of those flight case companies -

I was thinking it would have been more 1983 than 1980
What year did Steinberger “explode” at NAMM?

But astronomical for someone in America owing to the shipping- nevertheless I did buy a Warwick headless gig bag for them for mine as the original one was rather shy on padding. Also the Warwick bags were even more expensive to ship from Warwick-
