Steinberger Synapse 5-string bass

Does anyone know the string spacing on this bass? I have a feeling it's too tight

And does the proprietary nut/string system allow for a CGDAE set of strings?

Someone informed me that it was 13/16" between each string above the pickup -- a lot wider than I expected!
