The SH1 acts like Orange's OB1-500 if I am not mistaken. There are two channels. So one to drive the tube like tone and the other for the grit. The YYZ on the other hand is more of a mid grit control that is added over your amp sound already if I am not mistaken? The 2112 could be Ged's version of the SH1 and vice versa. 2112 and SH1 each just have a few differences and the name of course. It's whatever hero/influence flavor you want. Don't forget the cool colors of the pedals to customize your pedal board.
That said, I see a lot of praise for the Darkglass B7K lately. A more modern grit sound. Really can't go wrong with Tech21 or Darkglass. Lots of demos on youtube that give you the sound. I prefer Precision/P pickup basses so for me either works. When I had a jazz bass and used the YYZ it gives you the tone from Rush records like Counterparts or Clockwork Angels. I didn't really use it with my Ric because the Ric already has a unique tone (it has the modern/push/pull pickups, not the old pickups like in the 70s/80s Ric's) and if you overdrive your amp it gives you the natural distortion anyways.
The struggle is real tho. You want to be like your heroes and have that sound too but at the same time want your own identity. I am still exploring sounds and basses since 2019 when I got back into playing again.
