Am I dating myself? Remember when you bought a new pack of strings or a new instrument or amp, the manufacturer would throw in stickers. New bass... NOTHING! New strings.... NOTHING!!


I know I know.... first world problems. :rollno:

Any stickers that come with a product I paid for gets thrown out with the packaging.

My cars have badges showing the manufacturers name. My basses have the manufacturers logo on the headstocks.

It's free advertising for the manufacturers.

I am trying to get a reverse endorsement deal with Fender, where they give me a break on the price of basses if I promise to cover up their logo when playing in front of anyone.

You don't put those things on your instruments, do you?

I agree. The first thing I do when I buy a new car is remove all of the dealership information. They usually put on license plate frames, a decal with their name on it, etc. I take all of it off and leave the manufacturers badging. If I buy any other product that happens to come with stickers, the get thrown in the trash. Don't need them, don't want them, never have, never will.

Im with you. Took a heat gun to the TOYOTA sticker on the back of my truck. I just like putting stickers on my bass case.

My grand children like stickers. I would not care if they put stickers on any toy musical instruments I have bought, but when I give them better gear, I will ask them to not put stickers on them.

20 years ago I sold a guitar to the guitar player I'm still in a band with. He still has the hardshell case that I covered in stickers when they used to come with every pack of strings.

With my car, I removed all the dealer badging the day I took it home.

I like artistic die cut stickers. I have a Banksy monkey on my car window and a similar one on my bass.

The company stickers that come with things (dirtbike parts for example) get put on cases and toolboxes. My iPad case is covered in motocross and music stickers, and my bass case has a bunch of stickers on it too.

I've never been big on free advertisement. Won't even wear shirts that have logos on them unless I'm doing grubby work and the shirt was free.

When I was like 15 my mom bought me a Peavey combo amp. That was in the mid-80s. I still have the amp, the receipt, the instructions, the Peavey flyer with pictures of the US factory workers in 80s clothes and hairstyles, and the Peavey sticker that came with it. It just all went into a ziplock bag and has followed the amp around with me ever since.
