I try to avoid putting stickers on my basses, but as this can testify, it's a losing battle.
I tried so long to keep that Jag stickerless, but who can deny the awesomeness of the big one on the back? I'm trying to keep my P bass stickerless, and so far I'm winning. (probably because I've owned it for a grand total of four days.
In the early 90's when I was in a thrash band I had my bass covered with em, I was young and I liked it. They have since been removed...but alas one cannot hold out forever. New stickers of the bands I like that I've played shows with, now adorn the backside of my bass where no one but me can see them
I think one sticker thats not to huge is fine if its meaningful to you, the only sticker I have had on a bass was a picture of my dead friend, it was my dead friends bass he died at 17 and it was pretty tragic so thats my "memorial" bass.
To prove a negative is kinda hard, but if you can find a sticker that I have applied in this picture, please let me know and I will remove it instantly if not sooner.
I even took the little trash can with the slash through it off the neck plate.
Yuck! [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Now I suppose I have to turn myself in to the Greenie Trash Can Label Society Police & Goon Squad.
my first bass was stickered up and i liked the way it looked (I was 15). But now im 23, and all my 5 basses have no stickers on them. but i do have a guitar thats covered in stickers does that count?
Stickers? TL (totally lame) To me it's as bad as going to Pep Boys to get those cheesy stickers and then put them all over your car = "all Pep Boy'd out." NG (no good)
I'm trying the sticker thing on my frankenjazz, put a RonJon Surf Shop sticker by where my right palm rests. It reflects my love for the beach but after a couple months, I'm not very into a stickered bass. None of my other 6 guitars or basses are stickered.
I wouldn't put stickers on a bass because the glue can do funny things to the finish. I like the simple, waterslide decals that you can find on eBay. IMHO, one in the right place, on a bass looks cool. They are easy to take off as well.
There was no choice that said something like "Definitely not something I'd ever do, but, hey, it's your bass, do what you want.", so I had to vote the closest choice - lame.
To me, it makes a bass look like the old, beat up cars that cost $300 to buy but then the owner pimps it up with $30,000 in rims, ultra low profile tires, big fart pipe exhausts, all kids of add on ground effects, huge rear spoiler, wacky paint/striping, etc. I just don't get it.
I think it's a personal thing and personally I wouldn't put stickers on my basses. I have seen some pretty original ones though and all in all they didn't look too bad.
