Depends on the bass, depends on the stickers, and depends on the music you're playing.

I've got an Indian Larry sticker on my old Strat, covering a chip that was there when I bought it. I usually just use them to cover chips, etc.

I refuse to put any stickers on any of my basses. I think it makes them look tacky. Maybe if it was a cheap bass and it had a very noticeable ding in it and the sticker was cool. I did however almost have to bend that rule a few months back. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a result, I wanted to make a bass with a breast cancer awareness theme. I saw someone who had a shell pink Music Man Stingray Classic. I decided that exact bass would be cool with a pink breast cancer ribbon on a white or pearloid white pick guard. I made a post asking if the Ernie Ball/Music Man company would be willing to do that for me. A lot of people posted that they don't do custom work but suggested that I buy the bass how I want it and then simply add a breast cancer pink ribbon sticker to the pick guard. I figured that is what I would do when the owner of the company responded that he would build the bass. It will be used in future shows to help raise funds for different cancer charities as well as any other performances that I do to raise awareness. The bass should be delivered to my house in approximately 4 weeks. My hat really goes off to Sterling Ball and Beaver Felton at Bass Central for all they have done. Both companies also donated 100% of the funds from the bass to our Relay for Life team.

Actually you know what, I did see a bass with pin striping that was not painted on but was done with pin stripe stickers. The guy had made a pretty cool design with it and it actually looked pretty sharp and original so maybe there are a few times when a bass with stickers may look cool.

That poor Bass, if it were a dog I'd have it put to sleep :crying:

Very cool of them. I wish nothing but the best for your wife, Jay.

Whatever floats your boat. I'll never understand why people care so much about what OTHERS do with their instruments.
+1

That is a great story (not the part about your wide being diagnosed with cancer, I hope all turns out well) and a great idea, my better half puts together a relay for life team each year in honor of her step mother, yes I said step mother.

I wonder if G&L would do something like that?

to me stickers are only tastefull if you have one or two of them.

the bass player from harolds trousers has a sunburst USA jazz / white pickguard- the pickguard has a sticker of bob marley, then under the strings a sticker that says "Booty?"

badass.

In general, I wouldn't put stickers on a bass, but that's just me.

OTOH, when I got this red Reverend, and put the black PG on it, it just screamed "UGA" to me (I grew up in Athens, GA, and am a lifelong Dawg fan), so I did some research and found clings (NOT stickers) which I could apply to the bass but which were removable with no residue. I took them off before I sold the bass, and there was no evidence that they had ever been there, but here's what the "Dawgfish" looked like before I removed them:
