just another cool detail im thinking about is; i think im going to have the bridge position routed the for a gibson ripper type bridge pup. here's a good video showing off the tone. i dont know how close the sd are to the orig...

so... about the pickup placement, someone said G&L LB-100 is not an official P... which leads me to ask;

Does the Warmoth P have the pickup route in the right spot, like if i were wanting to get a 1957, or 1962 Fender sound?

You do know that there as a lot off variance between the sound of the PUPS in the early days, don't you?

It sounds like you are chasing an idea rather than a certain sound, which you can't really predict anyway until you have the bass in your hand.

Normally not a P bass guy. This thread helps me understand why this one particular build of mine has been such a head-turner. It's unorthodox in almost every possible respect...mahogany body, birdseye maple top, fancy pg, black hardware, fretless, 4 band preamp, angled poles on the pickup, ebony/ebony neck. Original neck was wenge/ebony fretted. Would have done a reverse P offset on the pickup but the 72P pickguard shape doesn't really lend itself to flipping the pickup halves.
