stimulus check activity....no politics please...

So in light of the news of another round of checks..I have begun scrolling down fb marketplace and just sort of window shopping..I have other needs to spend money on but yet I am a bass player...So this is not a great idea..I already found an Ampeg micro stack for sale listed at 250..I mean tell me this wouldn't be a great practice amp..right?? lol I knew it wasn't a good idea to look at stuff like this but now I feel like I need something bass related and of course to do my part in stimulating the economy...

Anyone else sort of thinking of stimulating the economy with bass / equipment related purchases...?

certainly understandable, i have been fortunate to be able to keep working and keep bills current.. I also took all the 1099s from every gig in my band because they all complained about paying the taxes so to stop the bickering I said I would sign all the checks and disperse the money...so I feel that i deserve something..lolol...but I am just looking..I'm a terrible shopper I go to buy something, walk around with it in the store and debate it with myself and 99 percent of the time I put it back and leave..my girlfriend says I'm cheap...lol

Nope. I did that the last time in a fairly big way and wouldn't feel right about doing so again unless and until I get enough gigs to pay for what I already bought.

Not because of the stimulus, but I just agreed to buy a bass from a friend who has a few for sale. I figure I can help him out and get a bass that I wanted at the same time. I suppose the stimulus will help pay for it.

Bass wise-Fortunately I have all I need/want. If I got a new Bass I’d play it for a bit, then it would be relegated to second fiddle. I’m content.

Bills are all up to date, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be working through all this, but in the bank it will go.

I have everything I need music wise, and no gigs, so GAS isn’t even a factor. (Well maybe a little)

I’m pretty sure people spending the money was the whole idea of this thing, to stimulate the economy. You know, what one person spends, another person earns...

So I think to do it properly, we need to be buying new basses, which will help keep luthiers and other bass people employed of course, services are great too, like Zoom lessons.

for me, I made the ultimate mistake and allowed my wife to take over finances, so I can’t sneak in any bass purchases without her noticing

It isn't ridiculous that they are giving it out. It's ridiculous that they are giving it out to everyone. Some people have not been affected by COVID at all, as their jobs were able to move to remote. But plenty of people have lost their jobs or businesses. I own two very small businesses that I built of my own over more than two decades. One has income down over 50%, the other down over 75%. It's only because I've always lived far below my means that I am still afloat.

Careful Big Hoss, that’s getting dangerously close to politics.

The way I see it, the stimulus check is supposed to stimulate the economy- to keep the money flowing. So whether you use it for bills or basses, it’s doing it’s job. The idea is just to keep the whole thing rolling. Mine will be going straight to savings, though, so I guess I’m a bad citizen. I’m sure it won’t stay there long. Money never does.
