Stingray battery cover mystery

I got a used stingray, and instead of the little metal plate that acts as a battery cover. Mine has a black plastic compartment that can be extended out of the cavity for me to change batteries easier.

Is it a mod? It have seen the same cover on another stingray

Is it a Gotoh battery pack? I'm having trouble finding one to go in my Stingray as the one that comes with it opens up and the battey falls out when you start playing.

Id ask the folks at Ernie Ball what part it is exactly. They may even send you a replacement free.

I have the same problem with my Stingray with mojo
but I just cram a folded piece of paper in there to stop it from opening. You also have to take in consideration that a loose battery connection in a EBMM can equate to low output too.
