Stingray Clone!

Just got my Atlas 4x from the shop. It is scary close sounding to a real Stingray!

There is nothing like a great deal. I have hard time believing how close this bass sounds to a Stingray Classic, especially now that it has new DR strings on it. I may have an Allparts bridge installed since my favorite store will sell me one cheap.

I have had a few Stingrays and one Sabre in the past. The playability is nice. Adjusting the neck is a little work because one has to remove neck like some vintage Fenders. It is currently taking a pretty low action.

The man in my avatar is the late Bernard Edwards of Chic, one my absolute bass heroes.

The price is great. Even with the work done, it was under $140. When I put on the new bridge, it will still be less than $200. I think these basses were around $409-$450 new.

if i were to buy one of these i'd put an extra humbucker by the neck for some added versatility. I already own a stingray single humbucker, so I see no reason to buy a cheap copy unless I can get some versatility out of it.

I did this with a Sub and it was terrific. I flipped it too soon for something else I needed worse, though.

It's not put together cheaply. The neck is especially. If you find one, install another pickup. I do not think they are very common in the USA if you are American.

There is a 2 humbucker Fernandez at the guitar center in fountain valley CA, not sure what the model is, but it is in the same price range (used) and they are stingray style pickups. I didn't play it or spend much time examining it, but it did look like it was entry level-ish, might have been a 2+2 headstock, it wasn't a total clone of the stingray style. Sorry I didn't snap a pic.

you may be right, i was basing that on what i've seen done with done old ibanez basses in that vein, but out here unless you can drive all the way to the small stores and pawn shops in the desert things are gonna be pricey
