I've been playing American Fenders for years, got 2 Ps and a J and I mostly play 90's skate punk through an Ampeg stack. With the pandemic and Lockdown, I've been suffering with a bit of GAS so I went to my local guitar shop and had a go on a sterling SUB Stingray 4 and instantly found it fun to play and I think it sounds great for £339 so I bought it. I also like the 38mm nut width. It's got me thinking about a real Ray but I've never considered myself good enough to own one and not many players in the punk genre use them so my question is for anyone that's owned or played both a Sub Ray 4 and an American Stingray - What are the real world differences between them in terms of playability and tone? I know it's best to go and try one out but there's always an air of expectation when someone demos one in a shop and I'm not convinced me playing some Lagwagon or Millencolin will cut it.
