Stingray copy OLP or SX???

Fwiw, the local Media Plays are going out of business ( assume its nationwide) and the OLP MM copy was at $150. Should go lower. And they have boxes of 'em.

For $100, you really can't screw up. They play OK. They had some Squire s too but the OLP seemed nicer ( at least the floor model)

I'm hoping to get a Strat or Tele cheapo for $50 in a week or so. Wish they had drum sets!

wanted to update this thread.

It's been a few months, and no sign of the SX stingray at rondo, but there is a new player on the market. I'm hearing great things about the new single M basses from The Bass Company. If only the pickguard wasn't so ugly...

I am so ready to get a stingray, and I've been in love with the signature tone for as long as can remember. One major problem. I use a 5 string bass, and really don't want to go back to a 4.

Everytime I've gone to a music store to make the leap, I've made the mistake of playing a 4 string to compare it to the SR5. I've never been able to get the SR5 to give me the same growl and bite as the 4, and that's why I've never bought one.

I would take a hard look at TBC:

My TBC AP400MM sounds a lot like my SR4

I got an OLP MM2 on ebay the other day for $110. Natural body, older small sized tort guard. Nice bass.

It's now awaiting a DarkStar to put in the neck position.
