Stingray fix

You can see from this pic that my stingray’s got a major problem

But, as you can see from the next, I just got it fixed!!

In all seriousness I could never make the stingray electronics work for me, but I love the playability, neck and look of this beast. Mike Lull just finished this—Seymour Duncan pj’s, bartolini preamp. Sounds spectacular.

Curious, any particular reason why you guys changed out the bridge?

I assume you mean the bridge pickup? The bridge itself is the same. I didn’t want the SR bridge PU because it just wasn’t working in a rock band I needed a 5 string for. I like having a J to add bite to the P PU on the low notes of a 5 string.

Sorry, I did mean the bridge itself, but I looked closer this time and I can plainly see it’s the original bridge.

How's the B string?

Excellent, though not at all available settings. All settings in the middle, volume up, with a blend of the two pickups it’s as good as the original SR electronics. And I’m going to guess as good as any 34” PJ out there. P by itself, not so much.

Lull tried to convince me of that as well. My problem was I was having a hard time finding a quality 5 string that I liked the feel and look of as much as this instrument. But getting the stingray electronics to work in my bands wasn’t happening. So this was my answer and I am happy.

Yep same as before. But there’s a big old empty spot where the pickup switch blade used to sit.

If you really want to live on the edge, re-wire it with a switch to put the P & J pups in series. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried.

Now...I have converted a SR5 to a jazz bass....converted it back , sold it..and can't remember why.....Ugh

I love the S in my HS basses and it sounds very P like to me......but I am a Jazz bass player so what do I know?

But I like it a lot!
