Stingray HS!!!!!

First of all...sorry for the cell phone pics, they're pretty bad (I'll replace the pics when I get batteries for the digital camera). This is the new addition to the family!!! I played it and couldn't resist buying it. I'm using it this weekend on my upcoming gigs and will post some recordings with it ASAP, but for now, I'm pretty STOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta love maple fingerboards on MM's. After playing on the 30th Anniversary one I have serious Ray gas... again...

Seriously, my Stingray Gas was pretty subdued until they came out with these 2 pup models...why in the hell did they ever get rid of the Sabre?!?!?!

So far, so great!!!! I love this bass. So far my favorite settings have been, all coils on with bass and mid boosted, and humbucker/bridge pup with bass and mid boosted. 2 completely different sounds, but they both sound SOOOOOOOO good, and SLICE through a mix. I really don't need to boost the treble because it is a very bright instrument.

Hey Slap Happy-sorry it took a little while to answer you back. I used to have a single pup ray a while back, maybe 10 years ago, and I loved the bass. I sold it because I really wanted something with 2 pups, but now that I'm using the HS ray I really love the way it sounds with just the bridge pup, I use the setting quite often...on the other hand, I really love the way all of the pups sound all together, it's definitely a rounder tone as opposed to the in-your-face traditional MM pup tone. My advice, if you're stoked with your ray, keep it, especially if you have another bass like a jazz or something with two pups. If the ray is your only bass, it might be nice to have a bass with more pup options. I would go to a local GC and try some out.
