Stingray Nut Question

Hello! I have always used a .105 E string, but just restrung an EBMM Stingray 4 with a low .110 for drop D. Very happy with it, but I just remembered the first Stingray I got came with strings that were apparently too big, because the nut cracked and had to be replaced (not my diagnosis, so I'm 99.9% sure that is correct). Any chance this would happen on a stock 2006 Stingray nut? Figure refiling a nut is cheaper than replacing one.
