Stolen basses alert in Atlanta

I do have a case # with the local police and am working on the claim w/ my homeowners insurance. I hit the local pawn shops yesterday on the outside chance they went there first. No dice. One of the pawnshops told me that in their experience, since you get so little $ from pawnshops on guitars, most thieves use Craigslist to sell the stuff.

Don't want to get off the original topic but to answer your question, I LOVE IT. I actually play the basses before i buy them, a friend of mine who works at the local music store called me and told me dude come down and grab this thing, it is amazing. He was not lying. i always play a bass acoustically first, when i did i was in heaven. Plugged it in to a Tone hammer 500 after an hour of playing in i bought it right then. NO issues whatsoever. This is by far the best FENDER i have played. I had a 75 RI that i regretted selling years ago this one easily replaces it. The action on mine is to die for, i had them set it up and LOVE IT.

My '72 4001 Rick was stolen from a car @ Lennox Square in mid 1980's..before internet...Never recovered.

Months later a TV investigation reported Lennox Square Security guards were using Securiy cameras for their own "special" advantage, which is why I believe they told me their cameras showed nothing...RIGHT.... Wouldn't get off so easily, now...

This is why I usually practice through either: Line6 and headphones or Pandora and phones; don't want to broadcast to the neighborhood and passers-by that I have basses and amps inside. Yeah, we have insurance, but still....

Also, music room is locked when either any visitors or service people visit.

I still mourn my loss even though I own several fine instruments now and feel for your loss as well. Hope all are quickly recovered.

One more suggestion, if You haven't already thought of it. I would recommend making it a point to drop in at all three of the local local Guitar Center stores, and check with them. When I was on the lookout for My stuff and replacing what was taken, I had spoken with a Sales associate at the Marietta store regarding stolen gear. He was telling Me that since They had began paying out cash for used gear, that they were getting a lot of shady characters trying to sell them gear/equipment that was without a doubt stolen.

I agree that this was someone that knew what you owned. I mean thats a couple trips in the house to snatch that many basses. Unbelievable that this crap happens to begin with, let alone during the day. I am sure you asked but possibly one of your nieghbors saw something?
I am sorry to hear about this, exp the gat from your Dad.

Dan55....when I read this thread I wanted to upchuck my lunch!!! Thieves sicken me but it makes me more sick to hear of your loss!!! I hope and pray you get your guitars and computer back VERY soon!

I hope that the lowlife who stole your stuff gets the bad karma x100 that is coming to them!!!!!

One tip for you fellow bassists that I have done. Around my house I have several tall post oak trees. I invested in several camo hunting trail motion detection digital still and video camera's (@ $70. each) and placed them strategically all around my home and placed them high enough in the trees where any thieving scum jackhole couldn't reach them without a ladder. They are tilted down and after a little testing for proper angle, a person cannot come onto my property day or night without being recorded. At night, the flash goes off and lets anyone know that they have been photographed.

Plus, I have a small home office and have secured it with deadbolts and non removeable door hinges and all my axes as well as my home safe are in that room and it is locked and secured ANYTIME I leave my house.

Again, Dan55, I feel your pain as I have had gear stolen too in the past. Best of luck bassin' brother.

Killer tip about the hunting cameras. I've been wanting to put a video system in, but that sounds easy and affordable.

Hwy 1 sunburst P bass with a CIJ maple neck and gold guard.

The 3 above all had vintage RI bridges and tuners.
'71 natural P bass w/ a maple '76 neck and neck plate and gold guard. Had that one since '78.
CIJ white '62 RI Jazz bass with a rosewood Allparts neck with block fingerboard inlays and Nordstrand p'ups
Cherry '63 Gibson SG Junior with 1 bent tuning key. I inherited this one from my Dad whe he passed away, which makes it more painful.
'83 Sigma-Martin acoustic flattop.

All pix, etc were on my desktop computer and/or laptop, both of which were also taken. Also gone is an external hard drive I had everything backed up on.

I expect some of this stuff will turn up on Craigslist and ebay, so if anyone out there sees anything suspicious on the Atlanta Craigslist or elsewhere, shoot me a PM. Right now my only computer access is from work.

So sorry to hear about this :( I hope for the best for ya and you get all or most of your gear back. Especially your dad's SG!!!
