Stolen Fretless Collection

I’ve been away for several years so I kinda forgot this great community.

I recently had my collection of, almost all fretless basses stolen.

It started with a factory fretless P bass in 1976 now gone

Up too a Fodera Imp Elite 5 string AJ36 style fretless also gone

There were about 12 in between also gone from KS to Sadowsky to 68/69 J

This happened some time ago. I am laid up and know who did it but I’ll be damned how they moved such exotics without notice.

I can dream. If any of y’all come across such things let me know.

Oh man that sucks...

Do you have the serial numbers of those basses? We can activate the TalkBass hive mind to keep an eye on Reverb or eBay, and put the word out to high-end buyers/resellers in case some smartass tries to sell them stolen goods.

We now live in a culture where lying, stealing and etc are common behavior.

Human ethics needs to be taught in school. Parents are failing to do it.

I/we are soooo sorry about the theft of your basses!

We hope for you to have your health back and basses too!

If you know who's done it, did you involve the authorities?

The first step would be reporting each one stolen to local police in detail, with serial and photos or whatever you can do there. This might result in recovery or in the thief at least not being able to sell them as easily.

A bass of mine was stolen about 4 years ago. It was an Asian P-Bass knockoff that I'd bought for not much money, but I'd shielded the cavities and upgraded the pups which had transformed it into a decent work horse. I reported the theft to the police, scoured CL, eBay and local pawnshops for awhile, but never saw it again.

I consoled myself with the story linked below, which shows that, at least once in a blue moon, such stories end on a happier note, if only after the passage of considerable time:

It would be good to give your general locale.

Somebody I know had about 80-90 basses stolen about a year ago, and a number of them turned up locally. One showed up on OfferUp that I found, that the victim had NOT found, and he was able to recover it because it was OfferUp...and I believe it led to some motion with the PD/detective on the overall case.

So yeah, where?
