Yeah, good lesson teaching me I shouldn't just assume things. The high gain channel sounds awesome haha. Figured it had a -15 dB pad on it and only plugged into it on accident.

Don't feel bad I couldn"t figure out what infinity meant on my tweeter attenuator, so I just kept it in the middle and was hating my cab till I looked it up online. As Cyrus on the Trialer Park Boys would say, 9mm, safety always off. Speaker Cab, tweeter, always off!

Its why I have switches on all my tweeters. I set them where I want them, for when I want them. Then I can toggle between on/off with out changing the levels.

Dude, people are in bands that make albums that don't know how to play. Plus amateur doesn't mean you don't know how to play it means you are learning.

This actually reminds me, how are you folks with music theory? I don't use it as a measure of how good anyone is, it's just I would say the guy who plays guitar in my band is the main creative force and has learnt pretty much entirely by ear and can't explain how he does things, but he does them well in my opinion. I'd like to come up with more ideas but it doesn't come so easy so spend time working on scales, arpeggios etc. as well as transcription.

I hear a lot of great riffs from you guys, would be interested to know if this is based on a lot of theory or not.

This might not make a whole lot of sense...

I'd say I fit in the hack/amateur musician category. Never been pro never sold a single album although I have given enough music away to fill a wheelbarrow. Always played for fun but had to pick up some theory as I went. Basically means I know squat.
Dudes in here all sound like alot of the guys we all grew up with, giving each other sh!t, sharing music. You'll fit right in.

I've been working on theory a lot lately, taking lessons from a graduate level bass instructor.

However in Supervoid, most songs are written by just noodling around until we find riffs we like, with no real "theory" approach to finding them.

I am not in a band or record my stuff but I use scales as a guideline. Me ears weren't that great, so I needed to practice scales to hear the right and wrong notes. The scales give me a starting point. And when I do play with my acoustic buddies the theory allows me to do more fun stuff that sticking to the root notes fo the I-IV-V progressions they always use. I do dork out to theory a lot, because I enjoy learning the bigger picture of how music works, but I think you can trim it down to what is really useful to your own needs. Intervals, scales, modes, arpeggios/chords, understanding keys are the most important to me. Right now on guitar I am wanting to learn more than the basic common chords I always use, and what ones will work with overdrive, fuzz, and distrotion. When I get bored then I try to learn something new, like an exotic scale or chord that keeps it exciting for me.

Got one. Sadly, it's not going anywhere haha. There's a few of them kicking around, but not many. There was one at the local GC a couple months ago around the same time I got mine.
