Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 13: The Lost Thread

Josh. The DK is the OSD plus all the extra mods, but the core sound of the pedal is the same. That being said, I really like the demon king because it covers most of my needs when I play. Mine is extra modded with the clean blend, and then it also is set up to be always on and I have a second drive setting instead of bypassing the effect.

But it covers dirty "clean" tone, my normal dirty heavy tone, boost for extra heavy (I can also use the boost/gate on the "clean tone" and it chops it up super hard and I can make weird sounds with it) so 4 levels of gain, and then obnoxious noise and feedback with the feedback switch.

If I were doing something more straight ahead I could see using a normal OSD, but the DK is perfect for everything I'm doing now.

gracias man! i love it more than any other pedal I have ever built!

Do you have a price for that sucker yet?

I know they're basically the same, which is why I had to ask. You're one of the only people I know who has had both.

I never use the gate/boost mod and I always leave the toggle to the right. I use the feedback switch sometimes and will probably use it live and in the studio. I've been asking myself one question: should I go with the OSD (with feedback), or should I just stay with the DK? The size of the OSD is more appealing, but is it worth the trouble?

Well if you never use the Gate/boost I can see the appeal of the smaller unit. It comes in handy for me for bigger parts where I need a little bit more to push the bass up over the top.

On the plus side you could probably get about what you paid for the DK and use that toward an OSD w/feedback with a couple $ back in the process.

And for the record I haven't owned a stand alone OSD. I do have an OSD with the LED mod, clean blend, and 2 drive settings being built into a box with a Grey Stache with a diode switch. Hopefully it should be coming my way soon. Real excited for that.

You are ridiculous, man.

I was thinking about getting Dan to etch my DK with either a scene from Re-Animator or a mountain goat head (and put the feedback LEDs where the eyes should be). That alone makes me think I should just keep the DK.
