Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 13: The Lost Thread

I think it's a muff... think.

Man take a weekend off tb, miss like 2 threads worth of stuff. I have returned with not much to report. On that "what is the El Oso based off of" question... I don't think it's a muff. I'd post the insides but after opening it up the circuitry is on the top of the board so I'd have to take it apart to take a proper picture. I will say though that there isn't much to it... and I know it's LED based which isn't very mufflike. If I had to take a wild, uneducated stab, it's probably based off some overdrive with an LED thrown in for clippage? IDK, all I know is I covet it like golem.

It's been 30 days... still no sign of my joyos from wtfaccessories lol. I went with standard shipping because I'm cheap... they were shipped on the 20th and it said 3 weeks. Soooo I should get them next week hopefully. I haven't really played in a bit, in hot water at work and had some car repairs to tend to, and I want to go complete dork mode once my joyos show up then I'll start band hunting again.

you can have LED clippers in a muff. Its more important to know where the clippers are, are they in the feedback loop of a BJT, that would indicate muff style clipping stages

For the record, I really like your vocal-man's clean vocals, like in Arcane Grooves. Hope to hear more of it.

Thanks, I do too! He has incredible range. We have a track that none of you guys have heard yet, that REALLY showcases his vocal talents.

Before Supervoid he was in a death metal band for a couple of years, so I think it took him awhile to transition to our style and find his voice. Now that we've been doing this for over a year, I think he's really starting to figure out exactly what he wants to do.

Strong +1 from me on this point.

Edit: I think, for me, is one of the coolest thing's about Clutch. Fallon has a full-throated roar, but it's not all growly and gutteral. It's more like the old-time blues guy who used to just bellow out the lyrics.

See, this is why you're the wizard. Well... I know there's muff variants out there with led clipping stages like the grey stache and all I know is it sounds different from any muff I've ever heard. I'd send you one to inspect if it wasn't one of my few prized possesions. You'd have a better chance of getting a piece of my liver (if there's any left to salvage).

/me notices he posted at 4:20 and giggles like a school girl.

I was supposed to see the great and powerful oz this weekend but plans fell through due to car issues. I got to thinking... regular guy who impresses a bunch of people and ends up becoming the all powerful wizard... it's practically a dunwich biography. Except his would be called "Dunwich goes to Doom Mountain" and he'd kill the witch with a wall of tube amps. I'd walk to go see that one.

Yeah, we really do have fun. Ever watch that Scarrified video with Paul Gilbert and Marco Minneman in the studio? At the very end when they finish the song they have this holy **** I can't believe we just did that look on their faces. Practice is like that a lot of times ;)

Same with VEGA. Normally someone yells out, "did we record that?!" and the answer 90% of the time is no. Then it gets lost in the cosmic cloud again.

BTW I love that Paul Gilbert Space Ship Live, its on the regular youtube rotation.

We used to record EVERY single second of our practices. My keyboardist and I both have little Zoom H2 recorders we put out, hit record, and jam for 3 hrs.

Since we're typically drinking and smoking during practice it's VERY nice tool to have. Haha, we'll be talking about some progress from a previous practice and no one will remember what we were doing.

Just play that **** back and voila!!

you dare post this with no pics?

FOR SHAME!!!!

Yeah sorry about that! The camera I use to take gear photos is currently in my car. I`m at home and my girl is out shopping. I keep forgetting to bring it back in the house.

Now I can actually use my Ric-o-sound jack on my 4003 with 2 stacks. I`ve got the 810/300pro stack and 2 115s/ampeg SVT-350 stack. Now that I think about it,it`d be pretty fun to run all that at the same time.:bassist:

the only bitch about the ROS jack is that you then have two channels coming DIRECTLY off your bass - meaning if you wanna fuzz both channels, you need two fuzzes, od both channels, two ODs.. even muting both channels is a bastard.

if i had vast amounts of money i'd dual rig with double the pedals i have now and run a slightly different setting on each channel, just for fun, with a big stereo true bypass looper strip.. but i don't!
