Well since both the thread and work are slow, I'm just gonna post tunes all day. Here's my favorite Ancestors track:

Black Cobra's drummer is ****ing insane, really good live band.

Must have been weird to see Weedeater playing rented gear. I've never seen Dave without his Sunn amps.

Yeah, it's the second time I've seen them and the first time I was just standing to the side of the drummer and watching him play. They sounded way better tone wise last night than the last time I saw them, in 2009. The guitarist was playing a Hiwatt Custom 100 head along with his GK bass rig on the side and the Hiwatt sounded way better than whatever Crate head he was using last time. They're a band that doesn't really need crazy expensive guitar gear, as long as it's loud and distorted, but it definitely stepped things up a notch.

Kind of weird hearing Dixie without his signature tone, but the riffs and their stage presence/attitude are enough to carry it so long as there's some dirt under it all.

I still like Ancestors, but I really dig this album more than the newer, more mellow sounding stuff. The sound they had on that one is what hooked me in.

Yeah, Neptune With Fire was way more stoner. I've only listened through Of Sound Mind a couple of times and never really got into it. I have NWF on vinyl and love it.

Since I live on the East Coast I've never seen Weedeater without their own rigs.

Black Cobra was so good last night. The venue we played at has pretty good sound, surprisingly. It's always awesome to hear a sound guy tell you to plug in your backup amp and crank it with the rest of your gear (as opposed to asking to turn down. Specially since all my amps are non master volume!).

Looks awesome. This may be complete irrational, but I've always liked the look of beat up cabs but not beat up heads.

Yeah, that's the stack I've always seen him using in pics and videos. Last night he was using rented gear, I'm pretty sure. The cabs were probably Black Cobra's, they're the ones he used at least. The head was a newer Marshall JCM head, I didn't see what model. It did sound a little off from their tones on recordings, but still good.

A couple pages back I was asking about a solid, cheap flanger. Sounds like I should scope out a BF-2. I'm curious as to where ya'll have had success placing them in your chain. Of course, I've read before dirt, after dirt and even in between dirts. Any thoughts?

Different scale length on each string. Lets you have a longer B string.

I always put modulation after dirt, though the BF2 sounds really nice on clean bass stuff.

Can anyone name some bands that get like, super heavy soul crushing instrumentation wise but maintain clean singing? We're trying to experiment with our vocals a bit, but some riffs we write our singer is having trouble doing anything but the angry death metal growls. I'm trying to find some examples of bands that do this to give him an idea of different things to try. Specific song examples would be great.

Supposed to be more ergonomic too, hands in more natural position when at the high and low ends of the neck.
