My buddy has my P's identical J brother. I've never actually been a huge fan of the tobacco burst finish, although I do like it on my P. I much prefer the wood finish that the J in that photo has.

Well LASIK is $4-5k not bad, I was assuming 8-10k
There's an old Memphis P bass for like $250 here in Austin while I'm here visiting. It's natural finish and maple neck are they a good brand? I think the dude from Jesus lizard uses a Memphis J bass.

I've had them since 3rd grade and I'm extremely bad at distance vision to the point I can't see at what would be laughably referred to as a "distance" (if I sit in my car I couldn't read the dash). My prescription has remained the same for the last couple years so it's a sign my eyes gave matured enough to stay stable enough for corrective surgery.
That said today I got my eye exam (free via insurance) then since my vision is the same I'm keeping my rayban clubs, and grabbing a set of wayfarers. Without insurance it was $597 for the new glasses, but we paid like $200 because I ordered special lenses beyond corrective.
I wore contacts for maybe 3 months in 10th grade and hated it with a passion. Weirdest day that made me quit was one wrinkled and tore in my eye and all of a sudden my eye was seeing all different kinds of clarity and I had to claw it out and spend the rest of the school day with a 20/20 contact eye and a -5 eye.
I've had glasses since kindergarten, worst visionin my family by far. Im about the same as you, dashboards i have to really squint to see without my glasses. I hate eye touching so no contacts, but that's OK, I like glasses.
I got the classic black wayfarers first then the rayban clubs. I'm due for a exam and a new set of ray bans, not sure what kind though, might go with a ridiculous color or clear, or something.
I wish I could afford LASIK. I hate wearing glasses, can't express how much. I wore contacts in high school and developed an allergy to the cleaning fluid, so on my first day of living in San Francisco my eyes swelled shut and I was blind...super fun! I tried going back to contacts a couple years ago, tried out a dozen types until I found something I could stand, bought a ton of them (because apparently I could only tolerate the one use type) and when I ran out I had lost health insurance with vision coverage and couldn't afford to get anymore, plus they wanted me to come in and get my prescription rechecked, even though it hasn't changed in 15 years.
A couple years back I thought my migraines were from my eyesight or working on computers 5 days a week. So went to the doctor. Doctor said I had 20/20 but said let me make you something for computer work anyway, $350 bucks later, wore them for about 6 months, migraines kept getting more frequent so I stopped wearing them, live and learn.
I always have my glasses on, it's probably really unwise but I'll drive without them to practice sometimes. Same goes for barefoot driving and using only one arm or finger to simulate scenarios that might occur lol.
Eye touching sucks, I remember one night I spent like 15 minutes prodding my contact to realize it wasn't in my eye and I'd just been pinching my eyeball repeatedly like a moron.
They had these ones that were full on tort with cream inner that showed a bit of cream out towards the front. Tastefully crazy I'd say. I liked the black wayfarers, but mom said I looked like crawled out of the subway?? Which I assume is mom for "dude you look rapey". So I got the tort/brown.

He's got like 3 15" bag end cabs and an 800rb I think, him and Kurt danielson have similar rigs so I confuse parts of each, but I know Kurt's the one with the Rat.

Exactly, and I get desperate when it comes to migraines, I will try anything, all kinds of natural store vitamins, tons of specialists, any drug they want to try on me, and even took two series of botox injections to my head and neck, so I guess $350 was worth a try, maybe money is karma too, you get screwed sometimes then you find great deals on gear sometimes.
So trying to think up the next bass build in my head, thinking a mahogany diddler body with humbuckers for that old school somewhat Gibby bass tone, but finding nice looking bass humbuckers isn't easy, maybe I am just being retro and gear vain, but that typical EMG shape look turns me off.
Actually I got the new wayfarers which are a tad smaller, black outside and crazy red inside.
I don't get called "rapey"... I get called Smalls if I'm wearing a baseball cap, and Waldo if I'm wearing a snow cap.
Just get one eye done at 8ohms and if you like it, get a second cab, I mean eye done...
It costs waaay more than I spend on gear. Believe me, I looked into before the last time I made a big purchase lol. I can see with glasses, I just don't like wearing them. If I couldn't see, you better believe it would be my first financial priority.
My comfort is like dead last on the financial priority list. That's why I only buy new shoes and jeans once a year.

These glasses look more 'Rapey to me. It's the Norwegian Bubbles!!! Man I love Lilyhammer, can't wait for the third season!!!
That sucks they made some killer guitar cabs. I am still not sure what their bass cabs sound like as the only bands I have ever heard using them were also using their guitar cabs and the guitars were so loud you couldn't really make out much actual tone from the bass.

i havent seen anything yet, theres a thread in the amp worship group on facebook where a guy was refunded his money by emperor after a long wait time and he basically said theres some internal turmoil between the guys and theyre not taking anymore orders or fulfilling any others. im sure more will come out soon.
edit: and on top of that, their site is down and their facebook hasnt been updated in almost 4 months. looking grym.
