Stoner/Doom Bassists 84: Name That Amp!

I mean I'm not a fan of their cabs, the 6x12's we have for guitar sound good. But I had a bunch of their cabs that didn't sound good.

Sean is a good dude, don't really know the other guys too well. Hopefully things don't get too ****ed for them personally. I wish no ill will, but would never recommend getting their stuff if they did continue.

Can anyone name some bands that get like, super heavy soul crushing instrumentation wise but maintain clean singing? We're trying to experiment with our vocals a bit, but some riffs we write our singer is having trouble doing anything but the angry death metal growls. I'm trying to find some examples of bands that do this to give him an idea of different things to try. Specific song examples would be great.

Torche/floor/truck fighters/kylesa/baroness???? Some not super clean but not growling
^that. Maybe add OM, The Sword, and Jucifer? Your singer does have some serious pipes. I prefer the songs where he really sings.

Hey gents. Figured I'd toss up some project pics, for some of You's that might dig it. Basically, designed and built it out of some stuff I had lying around (left overs from other projects). I'd gotten the Faital Pro 15FH500 for a super deal, a while back, so I figured why not roll something with it. Originally, I was gonna roll it as a full range 15 cab, but hense My love for cabs with a dedicated mid I decided to cross it over to a Faital Pro 6FE200 mid driver. I was really wanting to have something with a kind of old-school look and voicing, and it came in about right. All said, it isn't as beastly or in Your face as My fearful 15/6, but that wasn't really My goal for the build. Just wanted an old school sounding cab, with the awesome dispersion, that I've come to love from using fearfuls.
Built it with 1/2" birch and braced it pretty heavily. Wound up doing some extra little trim asthetics on the front, as well as black hiwatt tolex with silver piping. I'd say it weighs somewhere in the upper 50lb range (I haven't weighed it, so I'm just guessing based on My other cabs).
Man that looks awesome!

Looks like Emperor cabs is going out of business. Dispute between the owners. Outstanding orders refunded.
Wow. That's crazy.

Yeah my guitar player has been talking with one of the owners. Long story short, some of the owners left with the equipment to do something else. The remaining guy isn't really trying to move forward with it. My gp was offering a substantial investment to keep the business open, but he isn't going to do it. Pretty much you can stick a fork in emperor.

Exactly, and I get desperate when it comes to migraines, I will try anything, all kinds of natural store vitamins, tons of specialists, any drug they want to try on me, and even took two series of botox injections to my head and neck, so I guess $350 was worth a try, maybe money is karma too, you get screwed sometimes then you find great deals on gear sometimes.

So trying to think up the next bass build in my head, thinking a mahogany diddler body with humbuckers for that old school somewhat Gibby bass tone, but finding nice looking bass humbuckers isn't easy, maybe I am just being retro and gear vain, but that typical EMG shape look turns me off.

Are you allergic to gluten? An old coworker had migraines for years. She cut gluten and didn't get them anymore.

No, just recently got a new allergist and when through like 300 tests shots, no major food allergies, but I do have to have surgery next month on my sinuses, which seem to be the culprit for my migraines. Fingers crossed it at least sops the frequency, been Jonesin to find some people to jam with, but don't want to be the guy who cancels last minute all the time because it feels like I got knife through my eye. I miss enough work and weekend fun the way it is. Thanks for the tip though!

Good luck with the surgery

Thanks Brother! Deviated septum on one side, polyps on the other, and removing my turbinates. Had a deviated septum surgery in my early 20's but they guy didn't do a good job. Only migraine trigger I have found is changes in the barometric pressure before and after storms, and since my sinuses are always stuffed up the ENT thinks the pressure is causing the migraines, which I have thought all along, so fingers crossed I am back among the living in a month or two.

Thanks Man! I'll say this much, the more I play through the cab, the more I like it (must be the drivers breaking in, and all that), It seems to pair really well with the Rics and Meatsmoke rig. Squanch asked Me if I was gonna build another one to match it, and I just might at some point. I'd think it would be a pretty massive sounding, and awesome looking stack if I did.

I've had tons of their guitar cabs and have enjoyed them all. More recently my open back 212. But I heard bads on their bass cabs. However, the two times I heard their bass cabs live they sounded amazing. So I think it's just a lot of subjective opinions. Idk.

mouth of the architect used a ton of them and they sounded amazing every night, one of the most full and impressive live sounding band ive ever heard.

lots of hate for their bass cabs, guitar cabs seem universally loved tho.

I'll wiki it tomorrow, but what is a deviated septum? My mom had it when I was a kid, and she's always and forever clean but I always immediately think cocaine when I hear the term idk why. I always thought it was like you had a hole there like a un/natural septum piercing.

I'm not a fan of piercings, but Gauges and Septum Rings are my least favorite. Gauges destroy my ability to bite a girls earlobe and that always sets off fireworks in them, so they took that away from me/themselves. And septum rings just meh too much focus on the nose holes (which is gross come runny nose season).

Nah, my problems are mostly from fist fights as a kid, slam dancing, and in the Army I took a nasty hit to my nose when were double-timing it in the back of a 5 ton, I was not paying attention and took a combat boot from an ape of a man who was trying to leap over the tailgate and swung out his foot too far back, ouch. It's that back part of your nostril, it get's closed up and blocks your breathing is all.

Since we're on glasses... I just got a new pair for the firs time in a long time... Found some spy's at costco... Of all places...
