That's Purdy, but I don't care for the NR thunderbird. My guitarist has one in a light green. Not as comfy for me as the reversed.

That's a personal preference...I find the NR's to be more comfy than a reverse

I'd tell him to get a dually too, but it's because I'm considering one and want to hear and see more examples and get more duallys into the used market. Fully selfish reasons. i think there are very few people with real firsthand dually experience to speak of. And the cost is really expensive. That being said, the first round of dually-user feedback seems to be completely positive, with some (?) caveats that duallys are revealing and somehow expose your technique flaws more than one might expect from a 2x15.
I try to stick to advice I have personal experience with and ON topic. Luckily I'm a gear fiend who hangs out with other gear fiends...so I'll do head to head gear shootout just for fun.
That being said....IF you have the money for a Dually, they do rock lol. I wouldn't suggest that as the answer to every question, it's not the same price as a used Mesa 215 or Ampeg 810, they're plentiful in the used market. It's not like one selection is gold and everything else is crap, plenty of flavors for all tastes.
I really like the non reverse thunderbird and firebird shapes. I've wanted one of each for a long time, but never been able to make myself pull the trigger on anything. Maybe if I get into the swing of this instrument building thing I'll make myself one.

+1. We've never had to pay since we never exceed 200 free downloads in a month. Also you can set it up as a "pay what you want" download and you could make a few bucks.
the roll of is not specific to 8x10s, it is more related to the cab being a sealed design instead of a ported design. you can get ported 810s that dont roll off at 70Hz.
I swapped my CTS speaker with B810, better power handling, a bit more lows and less speaker distortion. I like them a lot.

Just seeing this - thanks BBS - yes, as I remember now in my lengthy reading, a ported (and somewhat larger) cab like the Megoliath isn't as deficient down there as a sealed SVT. Had one of those slip through my fingers recently....grrrrr.
I really should look into those B810s now...
Frack was having a good Friday, kind of holding the fort, people in meetings and took the day off and what not, and while I was helping a citizen, a guy from a different department was scanning plats on our 11000 dollar plotter and scanner, it ran out of paper and he tried to change the paper and got a jamb where I can"t take the machine apart of course, error code and call it in for service. Can't bark at a guy trying to be helpful, but man, it"s not a like a copy machine and you cna jsut slap a reqam of paper, you have to follow the computer screent he whole time and on a good day it takes a while to do, oh well, the service company gets a few bucks, Happy Friday.
Making some more progress on the pine p-bass build. I cleaned up my pickup and control cavities with the router last night. I just took some time on my lunch break to install the first and last tuners, string it up with some junky old strings I had laying around and checked the bridge location and pickup alignment. Going to drill the holes for the bridge and the ground wire after work. Hoping to get the tummy cut and forearm contour carved this weekend.
