Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread 59: We WUMBO'd Your Smooth Jazz!

Welp, I had to fight my GAS tooth and nail, but I've decided that the Diesel 2X15 is off the table. I have too much gear collecting dust as it is.

Instead, I'm going with my gut, with the high recommendations from you fine folks, and with my love for that beat-up old box of mine, so I've just put in an order for 4 B810s. I'll try to ascertain which of my current CTSs seem worst off, and replace those, keeping matched pairs in each compartment (important? no? ehh?).

Thanks again for all of your help, folks. I'll let you know what I think once I get them installed and have a chance to put them through their paces.

Now - new drivers need to be gently broken in before crankage, correct? How best to do this in lieu of a sine wave generator?

...oh...wait....thinking out loud....I have an MF101 that I can generate pure tone with....will this do? What frequency is best for metal? I'll be here all week....

I was just listening to melvins -stag on the way home from work and i got to thinking: It's one of the best, weirdest, heaviest and amazing rock albums ever. I listened to it a ton in my late teens and early twenties but hadn't heard it recently until today. Wow.

Also i think Dale Crover would be a much better replacement for Bill Ward in Sabbath. If it can't be bill, i think Dale would be ****ing awesome.

Good Choice ;) just check for blown and scratchy drivers and you'll be set.

in response to last thread:

no issues with ther EB-O, but i'm saving for overseas holidays with the girlfriend so the music budget suffers - the tone of it isn't working for my standard tuned band, need something full scale and with heaps more mids - hoping the dimarzio model P and some parts for <$200 will suffice, and my old set of chromes, haha.

And I sure do appreciate you for it.

So - new thread - I replied a couple more times over at the last one - wasn't sure how to continue here.

Anyone else have feedback specific to my question to offer?

I don't have a diesel 2x15, but they've sounded good when I've heard other people using them. They're the TL606 design, I think.

I'm also using a D-180... I love the overdrive I can get out of that thing.

just a head's up, i did the same initially and replaced the 4 worst speakers with B810s. It made no difference, the cab will only handle what the weakest speaker can take. replacing all 8 made a much bigger difference. so if you find that replacing 4 doesn't do anything, i'd recommend replacing the other 4 before giving up on the cab.
