Dunwich, (or any other electronics wizards out there) I have a question, if you'd be so kind to lend your wizardly wisdom. I built a Zvex SHO clone. Works great, but the pot only works right backwards. This seems completely illogical to me, which way it's wired shouldn't make any difference right?
The pot is wired like a simple variable resistor. In on the middle leg, out on an outer leg. However, if I wire it so turning it clockwise "turns it up" I get almost no change in the effect until almost 70% of the rotation also get and some weird cut-out. (not like "crackle ok" crackle) If I wire it in reverse (counter-clockwise "turns it up") I get a nice linear (well, it's audio taper, but you get the gist) increase.
Bad pot right? Audio taper should be the same either direction no?

Thanks man. The SS/BS Team Awesome was one that I wanted to try and never got around too, same with Tall Font Russian and Supercollider. Those 3 and the Grey Stache and Bluebeard are pretty standardly accepted awesome Muff variants, from the extensive research I did.
The Rusty Box effectively replaced my VT Bass, the VT sounded good but just had too many knobs / too prone to losing settings in transit. Sort of like the 6 knobs were all too interrelated, moving 1 meant you had to move another, and I'd never set up my rig and have the same tone I did the week before. Even if my settings were the same, it'd just sound "different" in an intangible way, and feeding it fuzz was always a gamble. Rusty Box is super simplistic and can take a heavy-gain input signal, and always sounds awesome to my ears when a preamp is needed.
I'll probably never sell it, since its such a useful little box, but unfortunately when i get my Acoustic amp back it'll be redundant again and go back on the shelf
If my Acoustic ends up sh**ing the bed permanently, then I'll be shopping for a high wattage pure power amp, and use the Rusty fulltime. Honestly a Rusty Box + poweramp would be a super solid / fairly inexpensive backup rig, should the 70's vintage rig shut down on me.
$15 for a enclosure, switch, PS, and 2 jacks (I got them just incase, they were like $1.50 each, who cares. BOSS's pcb mounted I read correctly, which was why I asked).

I like the Pre power amp set up, your amp controls are at your feet with all your other pedals.
I bought a Dwarfcraft The Great Destroyer kit awhile back, royally fudged it up and scrapped the project, but I have the enclosure / pots / PS / jacks / switch / etc. sitting here. Want em?
And LOL hard when I brainfarted on Dwarfcraft's name and Googled "The Great Destroyer" and the first result is a book about Barack Obama. Not to get political, but last I checked, he's been in office 4 years and not a single major city has been burned to the ground. I'd expect more from a true Great Destroyer.
So, what was the final verdict of Baroness's Green and Yellow? Doing a big All That Is Heavy order as my christmas present, and its on sale. Listening to Yellow right now and really not impressed.
I wasn't able to finish it. I kept skipping around. Not a lot of it grabbed me. I'll probably try to listen to it again next year sometime.
It sounds great, just not what I want to hear I guess.
They were always hit or miss for me anyway.

I am running a very non vintage 9.2, so it is nice to be able to start with a very solid clean tone and start shaping from there. I have the VT as well, and while I dig it, sometimes it's the loudest kid at the party and when mixed with anything else, seems to be the dominant tone shaper.
I have been reluctant to jump on the RB because of the different power requirements. I just ned to get over it and try it out. Do you run you RB high gain or low?

, I think it had something to do with embarking on a complex and unfamiliar electronics project (I'd never done a pedal before 
) while under the influence 
. The first goof I installed the LED backwards and powered it on, not realizing an LED has a + and - 
. Aen told me I probably fried the chip by doing that 
, and he sent me a new LED and chip. I installed the new LED and chip in (what I thought was) the correct formation 
but apparently it was still not all that correct 
, or maybe I'd made another mistake the first time around 
. Having no idea what was fried and what was not , and as my GAS for The Great Destroyer 
turned to rage-infused 
frustration, I threw the whole tangled mess under my desk and haven't given it a thought since.
