Double Bass stool with a back

Hi!
I am looking for a stool that has a back on it. It starts to suck when sitting down for hours in rehearsal and more hours in practice time with no back on the stool. Any recommendations? I am looking in the 150.00 range.

I found a chair on rollers with just a back and no arms at a used office furniture store. check and see if you have any used office furniture stores around you. I paid about $40

The drum throne legs fold up at the bottom making it easy to carry with one hand. The seat and seat back can also be detached easily if you wish. I put mine in a milk crate when folded.

You could also just buy a folding metal chair with a seat pad.

I ordered a 6230 because I like the 30" height. I have since tried one with a backrest, and preferred it.
You'll have to search for a distributor; if you by from the mfg. the minimum order is 3.

those drum stools are great for the cello position but usually not high enough for the normal sitting position.

The best two, in terms of quality, are the K & M, which should be widely available, and Concert Design.

This is the K & M one [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] , which I'm pretty sure is available from Bob's House of Basses. I use one of these myself, and the legs and footrest fold in. If you use the backrest, it doesn't fold up so that may be less convenient for gigging, depending on your car.

This one is more expensive, but you get a lot of choice for seat shapes and other features. I have used their concert seats (Invalid Link Removed), which are the Rolls Royce of bass seats, IMO. They are very versatile and comfortable, but quite heavy- more for concert halls and full-time orchestras than for gigging. The one here are more portable. They don't fold, though.

i think this is the one you're looking for... i've seen plenty of bassists use this. heard only good reports, though i play standing so i can't vouch for it myself. sounds like exactly what you want though - $115, folds up, easily portable and has a back. a friend of mine has a shoulder strap for it as well... don't know if it comes with or if he attached that on his own.

This is the stool that I have used for the past couple of years. It will easily go from a chair position all the way up to allow you to use it for your string bass; I have used it in both capacities.

It folds "somewhat," in that the legs will fold. Everything else can be easily taken apart; I can usually fit my 1x12, music stand (Wenger non-collapsible) and this stool (with just the backrest taken off) in the trunk easily.

I have just ordered the one without the backrest and footrest. I Didn't know these were available. In case I will need the backrest I can always order that afterwards I think.

The Franklin Barstool from Ikea is the best stool I've come across.

The 25'' one seems a little short, but it's the one I use. There is a 29'' model, also. It has a leg rest, back, and it's got places for me to clip my car keys to and since I don't sit all the way back on it, I have a spot to place my wallet and phone (off, of course) for rehearsals (I hate having things in my pockets when I play). The 25'' model was only 20 dollars plus tax, and I've had it for about a year now with no problems. It's also really nice that it folds. It's just wide enough to fit around my bass and I hold it using the strap on my case by the foot rest (so it's upside down). The feet sometimes come off if you don't remember to check their positioning before you sit in it, but they pop right back on just as easily, too. I would suggest going for the 29'' model, since my stand partners and I have beefs over how high the stand should be, but until this one breaks I'm just gonna have to deal with it. The back rest helps, I can rest my back, and it's just low enough for me to use as a point to crack my back.
