Stop it! Stop It!! STOP IT!!!

Living in rural America has taught me at least two things:

1. If you cross over a fence and see some large, slow animals, watch where you walk... or learn to take off your shoes before you walk inside.

2. I understand hillbillies alot better than I understand fresh transplanted citizens that hail from different parts of the globe.

The second thing tells me that even though most farmers can't spell phonics, they can still convey their thoughts with at least moderate profficiency. Most of said farmers called their school career quits during their 3rd time around in fourth grade.

I guess what I'm trying to say, is that all the 1337, hickish, ebonics, and every other local-yokal dialect demonstrate that the everyone seems to communicate well enough without proper English. So why do we spend so much time teaching it to our kids? We need to give them something to talk about, instead of teaching them how to say nothing "properly."
