  1. Hi guys hope your all well,

Tonight I'm playing a venue in London without my bass amp due to unforeseen problems.

I play a 92 SR4 through Boss overdrive, chorus, synth and then an MXR Super Comp pedals.

QUite simply, are there any tricks of the trade i can apply to help my tone going straight into the house PA and monitors. It's pretty desperate.

    Cheers, Brad

If the venue has a decent sound system I would stick the DI after the effects but before the compressor, since they'll probably compress your signal at the house mix.

As far as tricks, you might consider playing with a brighter, more high-mids oriented tone than you usually do, just to help hear yourself better from the monitors.

  3. Brilliant. So this will allow me compress the dry signal through the house PA rather than double compress it through my signal then the desk i'm guessing?

  7. Hey guys. it was an interesting gig thats for sure!

I arrived to see a girl band press launch in full swing. Loads of PR types swanning around making our load in nye on impossible :p

We weren't allowed a soundcheck because of the launch and when we did check the drums a girl walked on stage to ask us to stop so she could "listen to Lady GAGA" ......wow. :D

But yes, the sound was fairly respectable and the Compressor tip worked a treat thanks bongomania.

Thankfully tonight I'm using my amp.

    phew
