strange effects

i got a AXL chorus pedal a while ago which i thought would be really bad but turned out to be quite nice as the range of tones you could get from it were amazing fully cranked it verged almost on a phaser which was kinda cool, anyway could anyone recomend any pedals which have really extreme sounds or tonal ranges? looking for things to make my bass sound more like a synth / organ etc.

Well, there's tons of 'em, and they're not all expensive. First, the Bass Micro Synthesizer. I like combinations of different things, like octaver and fuzz. Also, check out envelope filters, as well as the common flanger and phaser. Most of all, have fun in your search.

yeah any in particular? most pedals i've tried in shops such as boss ones tend to have quite a small range of sounds you can get from them and aren't that extreme, i was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some of the more full on pedals of certain genres like flange and phaser?

Electro Harmonix HOG (Octave crazy box)
Electro Harmonix Bass Micro Synth (Crazy synth box)
Subdecay Quasar (Crazy phaser)
Any Moogerfooger (Generally Crazy effects)
Any Lovetone (More crazy versitile effects (Very expensive though!))
Electro Harmonix POG (Cool Octave generator)

EHX Tube Zipper. Just trust me on this one.

Actually, some of the Boss pedals can get weird. In particular the phase shifter can go very nuts in a couple of different ways depending on the mode.

Dano FAB Flange goes odd with the regen all the way up.
