Stranger Things on Netflix - awesome show

I accidentally streamed this last night on Netflix and wow - what a pleasant surprise! Spielberg meets Stephen King with a dead on 80's vibe. Watched the first 2 episodes and now I'm hooked. The ensemble cast are all totally spot on, with the kids great performances hearkening back to ET, Goonies and Stand by Me.

Odd I was visiting friends last saturday and they were watching the same thing and we watched the first two episodes. Now I wish I had netflix.

I really enjoyed it but I was left somewhat confused at the ending so I will pop back in a few days to discuss it. My only real gripe was the amount of CGI used. I would have been over the moon if they had used more real effects. I really hope it isn't a show though, I hope it is a mini-series.

I'm on episode 4 now and I'm just in love with the characters and actors portrayals. The xfiles/twilight zone plot and CGI to me is secondary to the human drama.

Netflix ordered the 8 episodes and supposedly it's open to another season. I sure hope so.

Finished episode 6 and my mind is blown. They are slowly ratcheting up the tension, and some truly profound interactions and dialogue left my mind spinning. Please let there be a season 2.

I would like this thread to be free of spoilers as this show is so new and most have not watched it yet.

I forgot to post back on this. A week ago Saturday, I thought I would pick out my usual Saturday morning movie. I often go to Netflix to find one. I saw Stanger Things as an option and remembered this thread. Well, before the day was out, I had watched all eight episodes. It is that good. Without adding any spoilers, I will say they left the door open for a season 2. I sure hope they do it.

We've watched the first two episodes and it is a really well-written show. I agree that there are many influences there, including Stephen King, John Carpenter, X-Files, Twilight Zone, and others. Netflix has verified that there will be a season two. :hyper:

Just finished it, and I loved it. The musical score totally hits that 80's horror/sci-fi vibe, too. It reminded me of some of John Carpenter's scores, with the different synth sounds. Great show, all around, and as others have said, top notch acting from the cast.
