For me it was a Christmas tree. My wife and I start sneezing and have a reaction to most Christmas trees. We found that if we buy a noble fir and hose if off real good before bringing in the house we are okay. One year the lot was out of decent noble firs so they told us a silver tip would not make us sneeze.
We bought it home, washed and put it up. The next day both our our sinuses were stuffed and the sneezing started. We took off the decorations and returned it.
I had a hard time believing it myself when they gave us our money back.
I am about to return an birthday card for someone turning 30. Of course it is unused. :)

I wanted to return a tree once, but the store's policy was no returns on christmas trees. The problem with the tree was that it had been cut too early in the season, so it died and dried out. It was shedding super dry needles constantly, and creating an obvious fire hazard. By the time it was out of the house, there were about two gallons of needles on the floor to clean up.

I haven't really returned anything unusual. But I have the same issue with Christmas trees. My wife is fine with them but they give me sinus issues and unbearable headaches..

So I can show my wife now "See, I'm not the only freak out there.."

Have you tried hosing down the tree before you bring it in the house? It is amazing how much dirt comes off of the trees when I do that. Dragging all that dirt and dust into your house could cause allergies. It might not work for you but it also might be worth a try.
